Process Diary

27|02|2022

Throughout the years I have developed tried and tested recipes to craft my collection of my bathing

and shaving products. These body bars mark the beginning of my journey, launched when the use

of Irish ingredients by soapmakers was unheard of. I embarked on a quest across Ireland,

sourcing unique ingredients like seaweed from Achill Island and sea salt from Clougherhead,

which laid the foundation for my soap-making venture. During this period, I was fortunate

to be mentored by a master soap maker from London, whose guidance was instrumental in honing

my skills. After two years of rigorous learning and recipe development under her tutelage,

I managed to craft my own unique formulations, with a keen focus on achieving a rich

lather—a critical aspect of my recipes.

I then meticulously crafted 36 distinct base recipes and sought my family's input to select

the best one. The decision-making process was a family affair; my brother arrived on his

motorcycle, clad in leather, while my sister brought along her newborn. Their task was to pick their favorite

soap, including its scent and packaging design. The outcome of this selection process is the

cherished family recipe we use today—a testament to our collective effort. Our soap boasts a luxurious,

thick lather that not only cleanses but also moisturizes the skin. The creation of our handmade

soap is an intricate process that spans six weeks. It begins with the maceration of olive

oil in herbs, followed by precise measurements and blending of ingredients to

form the base recipe. This mixture is then poured into custom wooden molds

and left to set for 24 hours.

Each bar is hand-cut and stamped individually, then cured on shelves for six weeks. After a final

quality check, the soap is packaged, ready for use. This meticulous crafting process underscores our

commitment to producing exceptional body bars.
